Roundtable: Liberal Principles

Although the modern usage of the word “Liberal” is confusing there are a few definite and fundamental concepts. At its root, liberalism is an ideology about the meaning of humanity and society. English philosopher John Gray identified the common strands in modern liberal thought as being individualist which supports the ethical primacy of the human being, egalitarian which sees the same moral worth and status in all individuals, the belief that successive generations can improve their sociopolitical arrangements as well as the moral equivalence of all humans.
