Get out the Vote for the Soil & Water District Election on Tuesday, May 5
The issue
A year ago, voters turned out to defeat a tax increase that would have given additional funding to the Doña Ana Soil & Water Conservation District. As explained in last year’s Unified Action, the increased tax revenue would have supported the District’s anti-environmental, anti-public lands, and anti-wildlife agenda, so it was important to defeat the levy.
However, the Soil & Water Conservation District could, under responsible leadership, play a key role in building a sustainable future for our county. They could work with other groups and landowners to undertake projects in soil and water conservation, mitigation of climate change, and the restoration of habitat for wildlife.
For a full discussion of the importance of this issue see the SWEC website.
